ARMANDO COSTA + 8IGB COMMUNITY CLOTHING SS19 MENSWEAR at Pitti Uomo

Armando Costa ‘s SS19 Menswear collection was born from the fusion of two imaginations that, from a European prospective, appear to be the opposite: the United States and Japan. These two worlds fought bitterly in the last war up to the catastrophic and at the same time emblematic outcomes of an entire era. But they have been scrubbing for centuries with curiosity and suspicion from the opposite milks of an ocean that is not so peaceful. Armando Costa was inspired by the linearism of Hokusai and ukiyo prints and filtered by the pervasive and aggressive imagery of the manga and the urban one made up of colorful and bombing neon advertising signs. All of this combined with the West Coast culture of the United States, in particular Los Angeles, the swimming pools with the painting of David Hockney or the pop art by Ed Ruscha.

In the creation of this collection the collaboration with 8IGB Community Clothing brand based in Paris, France was born. Their dialogue is based on the détournement of the clichés of Western consumerism sublimated into symbols with a strong spiritual orientation.
